From
a small luggage and saddler company in Florence, Gucci has
developed into one of the world's premier providers of high
quality luxury goods.
It's founder, Guccio Gucci was the son of an Italian merchant
from the country's northern manufacturing region. As a young
man, he quickly built a reputation for quality, hiring the
best craftsmen he could to work in his atelier. In 1938,
the company opened it's first boutique in Rome selling handbags,
purses and other leather goods.
The
name Gucci has long been known for its stylish luxury designer
branded goods which now include eye wear, handbags, small
leather goods, luggage, shoes, clothing, fragrances, jewellery
and of course watches.
Gucci
watches were first produced in 1972 and their collection
today features many unique and distinctive timepieces including
the Gucci G Watch and the newly introduced Gucci Twirl (pictured
right) with the GG logo along the length of the bracelet.
Gucci's
watch business is in line with the overall image of the
brand, mimicking the evolution of Gucci as a whole - a combination
of innovative Italian design and modern styling manufactured
to the superior standards of Swiss watch-making crafsmanship
with quality components and materials.
