A sports watch does not have to be defined as ultra-modern in design, they certainly can be made with heritage in mind. TAG Heuer seemingly have perfected the way of using super modern tech with touches of classic design to create truly beautiful chronographs in their Carrera range.
This particular Carrera plays with the modern and vintage feel masterfully. A 41mm stainless-steel case with a fixed black ceramic tachymeter bezel makes up the body of this watch with detailed pushers and crown, with flashes of colour that are used throughout.
A Black opalin dial with white counters and 60 second inner ring add a welcome classic feel with flashes of red for hint of contemporary styling. The Rhodium plated hands are finished with beige superluminova® a more classic colouration than the mostly seen green highlights. A rapid correction date window is placed at the 3 o’clock position. All of this intricate design is displayed behind a domed sapphire crystal with a double coating of anti-reflective treatment.
Within the casing lays the TAG Heuer Calibre 16 movement, fully automatic with a 42-hour power reserve. The beating heart of this timepiece has 21 rubies and a balance frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz).
The black calf skin leather strap with red stitching compliments the colours used though out. Fitted to the strap is an alternate finished steel folding clasp with double push-buttons to ensure a secure fastening.
Complete with a two-year international warranty and TAG Heuer presentation box this timepiece comes in a variant of colours and finishes, designed to complement modern motorsport and racing heritage.
