Commemorating the life of a true British legend, whose legacy will live on for centuries is a daunting task. Stephen Hawking proved to the world that anything is possible and was arguably one of the most pre-eminent scientists of the last hundred years. Bremont, have worked closely with the Hawking Family to create this stunning series of watches as a fitting tribute to the man who has a fascinating relationship with time.
Recognising the life of Hawking, part of the proceeds from this collection will go directly to The Stephen Hawking Foundation which supports people living with Motor Neurone Disease; the condition Stephen developed in his early 20’s.
This Limited-Edition collection is particularly special; each of the watches contains 4 wooden discs inlaid into the back of the watch. These pieces have been taken from the exact desk which Hawking contemplated the mysteries of the universe at, one of his most treasured possessions.
Other incredible features of the timepiece include meteorite to symbolise the cosmos – visible at the centre of the dial. An etching of stars over Oxford on the night of Hawkings birth; 8th January 1942 is beautifully placed on the back of the watch.
A unique BE-33AE movement with 42-hour power reserve powers this automatic watch which is made from 18ct rose-gold with Bremonts’ signature Trip-Tick technology.
Focusing into the ‘black hole’ dial, a retrograde second’s hand and grand date are visible at 6 and 12 o’ clock respectively. Super-LumiNova is a second patent of Bremont, which coats the polished nickel/ rose gold hour markers and watch hands with an illuminous decoration to light up the dial in the dark.
Completing the watch is a 20mm dark brown alligator strap and stainless-steel pin buckle.
This timepiece is limited to just 88 pieces, referencing the year in which Hawkings released his book ‘’A Brief History of Time’’ (1988). The serial number can be found on the case back, laser engraved onto original Stephen Hawking manuscript paper.
