Turning the #tide
Change for the Better continues partnerships with pioneering environmental organistations whos work is protecting our oceans from plastic waste.
The statistics about plastic waste are shocking, every year as many as 13 million tonnes of plastic leak into our oceans. National Geographic states that there are 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic waste in our oceans. Only 9 percent of all plastic ever produced is thought to have been recycled. The effect of plastic waste pollution on our climate is catastrophic and there is still a long way to go. With the continued partnership with Everwave, who engineered floating platforms that collect plastic waste from our rivers before it reaches the ocean, and the new partnership with #tide ocean material Oris’ Change for the Better project continues.
#tide offers a solution to the plastic pollution and collects ocean-bound plastic waste and upcycles it into a high-quality material which is used in companies new sustainable products. The organisation is committed to the UNs Sustainable Development Goals and has saved 15 million PET plastic bottles from entering the ocean, the plastics made from recycled ocean-bound plastic waste material can also be recycled again and again.
This is a special edition piece; each has a uniquely patterned dial, and each is a symbol of change. Your Oris watch will come complete with an Oris box and a two-year international warranty to cover you against mechanical faults.
