Oris have created another inspiring limited-edition piece from the heralded Aquis range. As with all of The Aquis Limited Editions there is a deep meaning behind this watch as Oris continue to highlight and bring awareness to some of the planets most precious bodies of water.
The Source of Life Limited Edition draws attention to the second biggest river in Europe and how that river is as important today as it has ever been for wildlife and mankind dating back to the Holy Roman Empire. The Source of Life watch gives subtle nods to an important water body throughout this piece, with its blue and grey tones from the river Rhine, as many organisations try to combat the rising pollution levels caused by the carelessness and neglect of the river.
The watch case itself is formed in the classic styling of all Aquis watches, being robust and sturdy to handle any day to day life both in and out of water, using a multi-piece stainless steel case in a 43.5mm size. One of the key highlights of this handsome watch is the minutes scale top ring bezel formed from super tough tungsten in a grey brushed finish to echo the sturdiness of the piece.
Superb detail is also featured on the case-back with a special embossed map of the river Rhine to commemorate the subject behind the watch. Arguably the stand out feature for the watch is the cold blue coloration of the sun-burst effect dial replicating the hues of the flowing water viewed through the domed Sapphire-crystal glass which has been treated with an anti-reflective coating on the inside to avoid light glare.
Within the watch is the automatic winding movement running at frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour at 4 Hz, with a power reserve of 38 hours and a central circular date feature that runs around the dial. As with all Oris Aquis, the watch comes with a more than handy 300-meter water-resistance for any water-based activity.
Attached to the watch case is a grey tone rubber strap to compliment the look of the watch with a security steel fold clasp that can also be adjusted to slip over a wet suit, perfect for any water activity.
A limited-Edition of 2343 models represents the height above sea level of the starting source of the river 2,343 metres up in the Swiss Alps. The watch comes complete with a three-year international guarantee and a special presentation box.
