Staff Spotlight – Cody

July 15, 2019 by

Our second staff member in the spotlight is the fabulous Cody from our Bury store. Cody is high- spirited and she immediately makes you feel at home in her store. She feels this is what makes our company stand out. Her words were “we are friends for life and not just a store but a family you can return to, a home from home”.

I couldn’t have said it better myself, so here is the inside scoop on Cody.

Where it all began

Cody has worked in the jewellery trade since she was seventeen. Her first role was a Saturday job while studying at college. After finishing her time studying her Mum came across a position advertised by Peter Jackson the Jeweller and encouraged her to apply.

Four years later, in her position as sales advisor, she has gained many ambassador roles in training with prestigious brands such as TAG Heuer, Gucci, Clogau and many more! The main reason she wanted to work for the company is because of the promise Peter Jackson and her Manager Kathryn made to her, in the interview. This was to fully train her in all aspects of the business so she could give her customers the best shopping experience. This promise has certainly been kept as Cody has gained so much knowledge and is still learning every day.

What does she enjoy about her job?

You, the customer! Cody loves getting to know her customers and creating a relationship that will last forever. She wants to understand your needs and wants to help you make the perfect purchase. A customer that was thrilled with her service wrote to Peter and has become a lifetime customer, returning to the branch for all those special occasions and a treat for himself too.

Cody enjoys working alongside the Peter Jackson Team in her store and across the company. She has gained many friendships at the summer and Christmas parties with colleagues across the company. Peter goes to a huge effort every year on these parties and it brings all the stores together. She also likes to get a little competitive too. Bury and Preston had a little competition at Sky Fly, an indoor flying experience. They all went head to head trying to see who could fly the longest. However this resulted in poor Cody losing her glasses!

She has been involved in some very exciting customer events. They have held a movie night at the cinema in Bury. Each guest received a meal box provided by Bite Club and awaiting inside one lucky guests box was an image of a watch they had won. She has also helped organise an event in store to raise money for Bury hospice. If you are local to Bury you may have also heard her on the local radio station, Tower FM. At Christmas time she gave advice on the best gifts to buy.

Off the shop floor Cody has been involved in various training days. She had a fantastic opportunity to be the first to see the latest product launch by Armani and Michael Kors. As a reward for two days training, she was treated to a luxury meal and overnight stay along with the rest of the team from Fossil. She has also travelled to London to visit the Thomas Sabo boutique and to Manchester for a training day with Raymond Weil. Cody is quite the adventurer but if you do go travelling with Cody, just make sure she doesn’t try to get off a stop too early. Gemma from our Blackburn store soon discovered this on the tube in London and luckily caught her before she stepped off! Whoops!

Life outside of work

Family is a huge importance to Cody and spends a lot of her free time with them. Her Mum has supported all of her dreams and career paths along with her Gran too. Cody became a very proud Auntie this year too! Her Uncle lives in Dubai which she has been extremely lucky to visit out there enjoying the trip of a lifetime. For the ones very close to her heart that are now watching over her she wears a very sentimental Thomas Sabo three feather charm which represents her Grandad, Nanna and Uncle.

Things we didn’t know about Cody

Before deciding on a career in retail Cody pursued her childhood dream of acting and singing. She attended an acting school and was part of the Rochdale choir. She has also taken part in ballet, tap and Morris dancing classes too. Her love of this came from her enjoyment of films and theatre which she continues to do in her free time. She decided to hang up her ballet slippers and now spends her free time walking in the breath taking fells where she lives

I am certain she will receive some song requests at the next Peter Jackson party now we have discovered this…watch this space!
