A story of inspiration and style is the driving force behind every U-Boat watch, with roots dating back to 1942. Today headed by Italo Fontana in the small town of Lucca in Italy, Fontana thanks to his wonderful design skills has taken the U-Boat brand to great heights of popularity whilst still remaining a rare sought-after product in the luxury watch market.
DOPPIOTEMPO 46 BRONZO GR is hardy looking watch from the creations of Italo Fontana, designed to give the wearer the ability to view two different time zones in one spectacular looking piece, coincidently the literal translation of doppio tempo is double time.
This particular watch boats a 46mm case, made from naturally aged bronze that will age over time with a unique patina meaning each watch will have its own distinctive one of a kind finish, with the iconic configuration of the crown fitted to the left-hand side of the case, with U-Boats patented device for protecting the crown.
The case houses a Swiss made fully automatic GMT 21 jewel movement, personalised to accommodate the crown stem at 9 o’clock, with a laser cut rotor, all visible through the U-shaped fumè glass case back showcasing the skeleton balance wheel. The movement runs at frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, 4 Hz, with a power reserve of 42 hours.
The case displays the distinctive khaki green dial that is finished with bronze indexes and hands that have all been treated with superluminova. The second-time zone function is utilised through an extra pointer hand on the dial that runs for 24 hours as opposed to 12 in one cycle. The watch also has the added functionality of a mini second’s timer and a date window at 9 o’clock.
The watch head is fitted to a karki green handmade calf leather strap with a bronze tongue buckle that is 22/22mm.
This watch is complete with a two year international guarantee and a stunning U-Boat presentation box.
