The Argonaut Bronze is the latest addition to Bremont’s Armed Forces Collection. This collection originated with a collaboration with Britain’s Ministry of Defence and ultimately honouring Her Majesty’s Armed Forces. Specifically dedicated to Navy The ‘Argonaut’ name is inspired by Greek mythology and synonymous with Navy history having appeared on commissioned ships for nearly 250 years.
Housing a three-handed chronometer the internal bi-directional rotating bezel is operated by a crown at 4 o’clock. The Super-LumiNova coated hands and indexes ensure the watch is visible in dark light settings. Set behind anti-reflective, scratch resistant sapphire crystal the black 42mm dial and bezel contrasts nicely with the bronze case and pin buckle.
The use of bronze in this timepiece nods to the importance of the material in naval engineering due to its high resistance to salt water. Made of CuSn8 bronze, a solution with an 8% tin content that adds to the strength, wear, and resistance to corrosion. The bronze patina will develop over time, the bronze oxidising means no two watches will look the same having their own unique look over time, as the bronze forms its own colouration with flecks of green and brown.
With a 38-hour power reserve enclosed in the timepiece is the Modified calibre 11 1/2’’’ BE-92AV automatic chronometer movement that is modified by Bremont in the UK to meet their strict standards.
Another fantastic feature of this watch is the 300 meters water resistance it provides, making this watch exceptionally durable.
