A watch battery replacement is more complicated than you may think. A battery replacement is a procedure that should take the upmost care; with just one slip you could easily damage the inner working of a watch; every part inside a watch is integral to the mechanism. A trained professional should be the only person you entrust to change the battery of your watch.

Instore appointments

At Peter Jackson the Jeweller you can book an appointment with a senior member of staff in-store who can fit a new watch battery for you. With our extensive range of brands and different types of watches, our experienced team can fit a battery in many watches you may own. Each in-store team is provided with a professional quality tool kit to perform many in store repairs on watches and their experience is key to ensuring your watch will be well looked after.

What services are available?

In-store we provide a battery replacement on many watches. If you require a new battery fitting without your watch being water resistant and this can be performed sometimes in an hour or on a next day service. If you do wish for your watch to be sealed to its full water resistance capacity, we can arrange this for you in a few working days with one of our local watch-makers or give you a quote and time frame for watch to be returned to the brand’s service centre.

Tips for watch batteries

  • If you have a watch that is no longer working, it is advised for the battery to be removed or replaced as soon as possible, so the older battery does not leak into the watch movement and cause damage that will require further work.
  • Some watches are fitted with a battery end of life indicator, you may spot this if your second hand on your watch starts ticking every few seconds in a larger jump rather than a consistent second by second tick.
  • The quality of the battery used is important, a cheaper or non-branded battery may give you a shorter battery life, as well as being prone to leaking. These factors over the long term will cost you more on the overall upkeep of your watch.
