Introducing the Oris big crown pointer date! The historic big crown pointer date first entered the Oris collection in 1938 and today the same design principles are used to create this timepiece. Having been refined with material and mechanical improvements, the timeless pioneering spirit of this watch remains the same.
Having forged a reputation for their impeccable bronze special edition watches Oris are arguably responsible for the boom in bronze watches in the late 2010s. A 40mm case is cast in bronze with a fluted bezel that will naturally patina over time. The bronze oxidises, meaning no two watches will look the same having their own unique look over time, as the bronze forms its own colouration with flecks of green and brown. We love the way Oris have developed their skills of casting bronze cases and find that the brown dial of this watch compliments the tones of the bronze beautifully!
The bronze case and dial symbolise Oris’s industrial philosophy, and the eternal value of a Swiss made mechanical watch. Protected by domed sapphire glass with an anti-reflective coating the contrasting white Arabic numerals are accompanied with centre hands displaying hours, minutes, seconds, and the pointer date function which highlights the date clearly with the red marker on the instantaneous hand. For increased readability the indices, numbers, and hands are coated with Super-LumiNova.
We love the open back of the case showcasing the automatic winding Oris 754, base SW 200-1 movement. Powered by movement this timepiece offers an impressive 38-hour power reserve.
Water resistant to 50 meters this timepiece is complete with a two-year international guarantee with the option to extend to three years by joining MyOris.
