Announced at Watches and Wonders 2023 and to celebrate 60 years of ‘Carrera’ by TAG Heuer the Carrera is given the ‘Glass Box’ treatment and we are huge fans! TAG Heuer have stated the Carrera is an ‘Icon of Cool’ and ‘Fusing racing inspired design with timeless elegance since 1983’ and it’s hard to disagree with them.
First of all, let’s talk about the new TH20-00 movement. The Calibre TH20-00 is TAG’s latest upgrade of their Heuer 02 movement, a bi-directional winding to the oscillating weight will give better continued power to the movement to make better use of the big 80 hour power reserve. Function of Hours, Minutes, Seconds, Chronograph: 1/4 second, 30 minutes counter, 12 hours counter, and a Date window are featured.
Celebrating 60 years of Carrera, TAG Heuer’s main focus is producing ‘Glass Box’ editions of Carrera Chronographs watches. The Glass Box comes in the form of domed sapphire crystal that in-cases both the dial and tachymeter bezel. A beautiful blue colour is the running theme of this watch on the dial and leather strap with tones cool steel to compliment readable features.
The case is formed in a 39mm size with both highly polished and brushed finishes. Classic looking push buttons and branded screw-down crown enhance the traditional theme of the timepiece. A push-button folding clasp is equipped with the strap in steel too and can be fine adjusted for perfect comfort on the wrist.
